Strategic Mortgage Capital Company Limited (“SMCC”) is a privately held independent company formed in December 1994 by three seasoned mortgage professionals to provide real estate financing services to the development and investment community.
SMCC was originally established by its three principals and a major US investment bank. In 2006 the Canadian shareholders purchased the bank’s interest in the Company.

SMCC has a wealth of experience in providing financing for income properties secured by commercial, industrial, residential and healthcare buildings together with CMHC insured projects for multi-family rental occupancy and not-for-profit purposes. We arrange both construction and permanent financing construction together with mezzanine debt in certain cases.

SMCC is a CMHC Approved Mortgage Correspondent.
The Company obtains investment capital for both debt and equity-related financing from a broad range of institutions including pension funds, life insurance companies, non-regulated investors and investment managers.
SMCC provides advisory and consulting services to corporations, institutions, provincial and municipal governments and non-profit housing providers.

The company is also been active in the trading of mortgage portfolios on behalf of institutional investors and has completed approximately $550 million in sales to date.
